Ila Mehrotra

Director

Ila Mehrotra was born in Delhi. She graduated from the University of Sussex and has worked in British film and television for the last decade. She has worked for broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV on strands such as Channel 4 Dispatches and ITV Exposures. As a self-shooting AP from casting to completion, Ila has worked on sensitive subjects ranging from domestic slavery to culture wars on trans identity in Britain. This is her first feature length documentary.

Edward Dallal

Producer and Executive Producer

Ed has worked as Senior Producer, Series Producer and Executive Producer at Spring Films for 11 years. As well as directing and producing his own documentaries including The Quest for the Holy Foreskin (Nat Geo), Remember Baghdad (Netflix) and the Defenders series (Channel 4), he has worked on projects including Werner Herzog’s critically acclaimed Meeting Gorbachev (A&E) and Fireball (Apple TV), the BAFTA-nominated Prison series (Channel 4), Herzog’s, Last Exit Space (Discovery +) and the Emmy nominated Into The Inferno (Netflix).

André Singer

Executive Producer

André is Chief Creative Officer of Spring Films and an Oscar-nominated, Emmy, BAFTA, Peabody, Grierson and RTS award-winning filmmaker. During an illustrious career, he was Commissioning Editor of Granada Television’s iconic Disappearing World series and founded the UK’s most prestigious feature documentary strand BBC Fine Cut (now Storyville). André has made hundreds of hours of factual programmes including 17 films with legendary director Werner Herzog. He directed the Emmy-winning Night Will Fall and Meeting Gorbachev alongside Herzog. He was Executive Producer on Joshua Oppenheimer’s Oscar-nominated The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence.

Sonja Henrici

Executive Producer

Sonja is a writer / producer with twenty years of experience in the Film and TV industry. She worked in the administration of Edinburgh International Film Festival between 1999-2003, and joined Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) at its inception in 2004. She founded its production arm, SDI Productions, in 2007 and produced and exec-produced multiple award-winning feature documentaries, including the acclaimed Future My Love, Pablo’s Winter, I Am Breathing, Donkeyote, Becoming Animal and Time Trial.  

In 2021 she established Sonja Henrici Creates. Her first productions were THE OIL MACHINE (Sheffield 22/ IDFA/ CPH, for BBC) with a large impact campaign across the UK. MERKEL for RTL/ Netflix which launched at Telluride/ IDFA, (with Passion Pictures/RealLava). 

Janay Boulos

Impact Producer

 An award-winning Lebanese/British journalist and producer who worked for the past 12 years for BBC News. She began her career in Lebanon as a documentary filmmaker before moving to the UK. She is multi-skilled with experience in short and long-form TV documentaries produced for BBC News and al-Jazeera. For the past two years, she has been shifting from TV documentary production to independent production. After training at the Doha Film Institute’s Producer’s Lab 2022, she joined the Documentary Campus Masterschool 2022 and IDFA Project Space 2023 with her debut feature documentary Until the Buzzing Stops. She also participated in Sheffield DocFest’s Future Producer School in 2023. She is also trained as an Impact Producer and is working on two feature docs including Son of The Streets that won Best Pitch at IDFA Forum 2023. Her work as an impact producer for BBC News won an award Amnesty Media Awards 2022. Recently, Janay received the IDA Logan Elevate Grant to support her career.
